Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) and Ultra Small Angle X-ray Scattering (USAXS)
experiments were carried out at FSBL of Spring-8 for polyprolylene sheets of RACO and
injection molded plates of HECO, respectively.
In SAXS experiments, the differences in PP lamellar structure (nm size) were observed by
changing the thickness of a sheet and by changing the type of nucleant. In USAXS
exoeriments, on the other hand, the difference in PP/Bipo phase structure (㎛ size) was
observed in a very small angle region which can not be detected by conventional SAXS.
It was found that the combination of SAXS and USAX in FSBL of SPring-8 is a powerful
tool for clarifying super-structure of articles by PP products in a wide range of size.
