融液からのiPP 単結晶の形態と成長速度の結晶化温度依存性

Polymer single crystal gives us important information about the mechanism of crystal growth. It is well known that isotactic polypropylene (iPP) forms rectangular shaped single crystal from dilute solution. In this study, we could obtain iPP single crystal from the melt at wide temperature range between Tc=115〜155℃. The morphology was pbserved by phase contrast optical microscopy, AFM and TEM. The shape of single crystal changed with Tc. A rectangular crystal was obtained at high Tc〜150℃. At Tc〜130℃, the width increased and the shape became a rhombic-like as shown in Figure 1. It is supposed that the change of the shape is stongly related to the crystallization mechanism of iPP.
